The Thought For Today

Encouraging You Through God's Word

I used to be selfish, spoiled, and only focused on myself—what I wanted, what made me happy. I didn’t think about anyone else, and I certainly didn’t think about God. But Jesus knew that this lost, hopeless Southern girl needed a Savior. I needed Jesus. And despite my selfishness, He still loved me, pursued me, and saved me. Now, I can’t help but say thank You—not just with my words, but with my life.

According to 1 Thessalonians 5:18 it reminds us to give thanks in everything because gratitude shifts our focus from ourselves to God’s faithfulness. Colossians 3:17 reminds us that whatever we do—whether in word or deed—should be done in the name of Jesus, giving thanks to God. And Psalm 136:1 declares, “Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good, for His faithfulness is everlasting.” Every day, we can show our gratitude by obeying Jesus, loving others, and living in a way that reflects His goodness. If we say we love Jesus but don’t obey Him, do we really love Him? John 14:15 reminds us, “If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.” So let’s not just say “Thank You” to Jesus—let’s live it by our obedience to His Word.
