I remember growing up as a child, my parents would tell my sisters and me to do certain things. They would give us their opinions about certain situations. It was at those moments we would have to decide to either agree or disagree with them. Being a child of God is just like having an Earthly parent and child relationship. When God speaks or has said something in His word, you have a decision to make. Either you and I will go along with what God says or we will reject it. Think about it: do you agree with God, or do you make excuses? Do you follow the ways of the world, or do you follow Jesus? If we desire to live this life of a Jesus follower, then we must “Agree with God”.
“Agree with God” about your sins. The word confess means to admit or state one is at fault in some way. When you and I confess our sins to God, we are agreeing with Him that we are wrong, and He is right. In addition, we are putting the devil on notice that we agree with God even when it comes to our sins. 1 John 1:8-10 reminds us, “If we claim we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and not living in the truth. But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness. If we claim we have not sinned, we are calling God a liar and showing that his word has no place in our hearts.”
To “Agree with God” has nothing to do with your skin color, your political preferences, or your experiences. It is Bible all day! Titus 1:15-16 says, “Everything is pure to those whose hearts are pure. But nothing is pure to those who are corrupt and unbelieving, because their minds and consciences are corrupted. Such people claim they know God, but they deny him by the way they live. They are detestable and disobedient, worthless for doing anything good.”
If you and I expect to live Christ like which means to speak and live the truth of God’s word, we cannot sugar coat sin! We cannot go along just to get along. We must agree with God on everything!
