The word persuade means to cause someone to do something through reasoning or an argument. When you and I were younger, we could be easily influenced by our cousins and school friends. We would believe them when they would say things like, “If you step on a crack, you’ll break yo moma’s back.” We even believed the lies about Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy, and the Easter Bunny. Unfortunately, as we have matured and grown older, we have allowed life’s circumstances to persuade us to believe lies. We are constantly bombarded with falsehoods that suggest we are inadequate, unintelligent, lacking in various ways, and so forth. But, when it comes to the things of God, “Are You Persuaded?”.
“Are You Persuaded?” that Jesus is the only Son of God, the only Savior of the world, and that He is Lord. We are reminded what Luke 19:10 says, “For the Son of Man came to seek and save those who are lost.” Then we are reminded of 2 Corinthians 5:21. It reads, “For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.”
Is the belief in the complete accuracy of God’s Word convincing to you?Not only was Paul persuaded that Jesus was Lord but so was Timothy. In 2 Timothychapter3 verses 16 and 17, Paul reminds Timothy by saying, “All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.”
Once we have been rescued from the depths of darkness and saved by Jesus, we will ultimately come to the realization that there exists no other deity, no other deliverer, and no other title deserving of our unwavering dedication apart from that of Jesus.
