The Thought For Today

Encouraging You Through God's Word

Today’s thought is an assessment of your life. You and I are to always evaluate ourselves and see where we stand in our relationship with Christ. Are you where Christ wants you to be? Are you far from Him? Are you straddling the fence between Jesus and the World?

What are your words saying about you? Do you speak the words of Christ or do you speak the words of the world? In Matthew 24:35 Jesus said, “Heaven and Earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.” So speak Jesus’ words.

If your faith or trust is in yourself, your money, your job, your possessions or the government—-you are standing on shaky ground. Psalms 118:8 reminds us, “It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man.”

If you attend church and you put more value in the position you hold versus having a personal relationship with Jesus—-you are standing on shaky ground.

If you think your life is all about you—-you are standing on shaky ground. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 it reminds us, “Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.”

If your lifestyle does not line up with God’s word and it is not pleasing to Him—-you are standing on shaky ground. 2 Corinthians 5:7 tells us, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”

2 Timothy chapter 2 verse 19 says, “Nevertheless the foundation of God stands steady—it is firm…” So if your foundation or your life is based on anything other than Christ—-you are standing on shaky ground.

Search myself and go deeper: I will survey my life and ask those hard questions:

  1. Am I living for Christ? Does my life line up with His word?
  2. Do I trust Jesus with everything?
  3. Am I following after my flesh or the Spirit of God?
  4. Do I believe the Word of God or my thoughts and feelings?
  5. Is my heart right with the Lord?
