To be blessed is to be made happy or prosperous. To be highly favored is to enjoy supreme special advantages. God’s favor is undeserved but He chooses to extend to us blessings out of his love, mercy and grace. We are reminded in Genesis 6:8, that Noah found favor in God’s eyes. Why? Noah obeyed God. In Exodus 33:11 and 17, the Lord spoke to Moses as a man that speaks to his friend and he found grace in His sight. Why? Moses obeyed God.
To be blessed and highly favored is to be chosen. Romans 8:29 explains how we have been predestined to be chosen as children by Jesus Christ himself. To be blessed and highly favored is to be justified and we are only pardoned by what Christ did on the Cross. Even Mary had found favor with God as it is written in Luke 1:30.
To be blessed and highly favored is to be like Christ. It says in Luke 2:52 that Jesus increased in wisdom and stature and in favor with God and man. Why? Jesus obeyed God. Jesus said in John 14:23, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching.” Also, Matthew 7:24 reminds us, “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.” Our obedience is everything.
Are you willing to allow the Holy Spirit to guide you? Are you willing to die to yourself? Are you willing to give up everything to be blessed and highly favored?
