To be broken is to be torn; fragmented; not functioning properly. When you are broken, it seems that you are at the lowest point of your life-the lowest of the low. You can’t move; you can’t turn to the right nor to the left. Brokenness comes when all Earthly help and answers cannot be found.
Brokenness is God’s way of reconnecting you back to himself. It is His way of showing you that He is your source and your answer. Jesus wants you to look to Him. In John 12:24 Jesus said, “Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds.” As a follower of Christ, we are designed to produce fruit. We were created to be an example for Christ in the Earth. In order to be fruitful, there are some things in our lives that do not bring God glory and must be broken off of our lives. Your brokenness is really a blessing in disguise.
Brokenness is God’s process for us to die to ourselves and for His will to become our one and only desire. Paul, Job, and Peter all experienced being broken by God. These great men of God realized and accepted their brokenness as a blessing. In Job 23:10 it says, “But he knows the way that I take; when he has tested me, I will come forth as gold.”
Your brokenness is an indicator that God desires to use you for His glory. To be broken does not mean you are not loved. It does not mean that God is angry with you. You are being molded to be fit for the Master’s purpose. Paul reminds us in Galatians 2:20, “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.” When you are confident that your life is no longer your own, you will see that your brokenness is really a blessing in disguise.
