The Thought For Today

Encouraging You Through God's Word

A witness is described as someone who can see, hear or know something by personal experience and perception; to bear witness to; testify to; give or offer evidence of.

In the world, you and I have all been witnesses to some good and bad things. We might have been a witness to a crime, a witness at a wedding or a witness in a court of law—these things take really no effort, just your eyes and ears.

However in the spiritual world, a witness for Jesus Christ must first and foremost have the right kind of Spirit. For Romans 8:16 says, “The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children.”

So, if we desire to be like Jesus we must not only have the right Spirit which is the Holy Spirit, but we must be a WITNESS.

First, the “W” in witness means-willing. Matthew 16:24 declares, “Then Jesus said to his disciples, ‘Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.’”

Then, the “I” in witness means-identify with Christ. 1 Peter 3:15 says, “But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect…”

The “T” in witness means-time. Ephesians 5:15-16 reminds us to, “Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.”

Then, the “N” in witness means-neglect. Hebrews 2:3 asks us, “How shall we escape if we ignore so great a salvation? This salvation, which was first announced by the Lord, was confirmed to us by those who heard him.”

The “E” in witness means-example of Christ’s love. John 13:35 says, “By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

Next, the “S” in witness means-salt. Matthew 5:13 tells you and me that, “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.”

Finally, the last “S” in witness means-sacrifice. Romans 12:1 commands us, “…to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.”

Jesus is looking, waiting and wanting someone to be a real WITNESS for HIM. Jesus is asking you today, “Can I Get A Witness? Holla, If You Hear Me?”

Search myself and go deeper: I will examine my life and see if I exhibit these scriptures in my daily life. If not, I will pray for strength, direction, and boldness to be a witness.
