The Thought For Today

Encouraging You Through God's Word

As a former teacher, I understand the challenges of preparing lessons that sometimes fail but through trial and error can succeed. Whether teaching children, family, or strangers, we all make mistakes, but Jesus, the Master Teacher, never fails, so “Class is in Session”.

When we look at the disciples’ response to Jesus in Matthew 4:19-20, we see their immediate obedience to His call, leaving their livelihoods behind to follow Him. Just as they did, true discipleship requires us to radically leave our old life behind and embrace His mission, becoming “fishers of men” to share the Gospel. True discipleship involves immediate and complete obedience to the call of Jesus and when you and I do that it is a grade “A” for acceptance into the Kingdom of God. (“And He said to them, ‘Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.’ Immediately they left their nets and followed Him.” Matthew 4:19-20)

Throughout Scripture, Jesus teaches countless lessons, from the importance of obedience over sacrifice to the need for forgiveness and reconciliation. However, His greatest lesson offers salvation and eternal life to all who believe in Him. The Apostle John reminds us in John 3:16 as well as John 6:40 that faith in Jesus grants us eternal security and resurrection. We are called to apply this by placing our faith in Jesus and sharing this message with others, inviting them to experience the gift of eternal life and hope. (“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish, but have eternal life.” John 3:16) (“For this is the will of My Father, that everyone who beholds the Son and believes in Him will have eternal life, and I Myself will raise him up on the last day.” John 6:40)

Jesus is the great Master Teacher because His divine authority brings eternal life, and we should listen to Him, as His words echo the truth of God’s will for mankind.
