Hebrews 2:1 says, “So we must listen very carefully to the truth we have heard, or we may drift away from it.” What is the truth you have heard about Jesus? Have you heard that he is a Savior? I’ve heard that He sticks closer to you than a brother. Clinging to God’s word is not our last resort, but it is our only solution.
How do you and I cling to God’s word? First, we must abide in His word. As Jesus was talking to his disciples in John 8:31-32 he says, “You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teachings. And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” We too must remain faithful to His teachings. It is critical for you and me to meditate on His word day and night (See Psalm 1:2). We can’t forget that His word is a treasure. Finally, Paul talks about in Philippians 2:16 how we are to hold firm to the word of life.
People, things, and circumstances will change. Nothing in this life will last forever except for God’s word…. cling to it today!
Search yourself and go deeper:
1. Am I clinging to God’s word today? If not, why not? Do you not trust God?
2. If you are clinging to His word, what are you doing to cling to His word?
Let’s Pray…. Most Gracious, Heavenly, Father, I thank you for your word. When everything in this life passes away, your word will remain. Lord, you are faithful to your word. You have proven to us that you are trustworthy. Help us today to cling to the sure foundation which is you and your word. Show us how to cling to you. Speak and guide us in the way we should go. Your servant is listening. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
