The Thought For Today

Encouraging You Through God's Word

Broken is described as something that is torn, reduced to fragments; not functioning properly. If you are living, you have experienced being broken. Many of us have felt brokenness by family members or so called friends. If you have taken a chance on love, you might have faced a failed relationship. The enemy does not care about our good or bad experiences. His job is to kill, steal, and destroy (see John 10:10). Satan, the enemy of your soul, gets joy from you being broken. He does not want us to be fit for kingdom work. You and I must decide that we will not allow our negative past or our current situation to stop us from living for Jesus. Therefore, on today, “Do It Broken”!

“Do It Broken” even if you do not feel loved. Jesus reminds us in John 15:12, “….Love each other as I have loved you.” You and I must never forget that Jesus loves us even when man and this world rejects our love or refuses to extend love to us. Verse 13 in the same chapter encourages us with, “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for ones’ friends.” If Jesus laid down His life for you, He loves you and you are worth love.

“Do It Broken” when you have no strength left. We must remember that our human strength fades like the wind. When our backs are against the wall, we have to depend on something, someone greater than ourselves. Our strength comes from the Lord. One of the scriptures I cling to about strength is Nehemiah 8:10. It says, “Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.” Because our Lord is full of joy, He will give us strength. When you need strength to go on, rest at the feet of Jesus. When you need strength to encourage your own self, go to God’s word. Psalm 119:28 tells us, “My soul is weary with sorrow; strengthen me according to your word.”

Be encouraged today, our brokenness is only for a season. Joy will come. Peace will come. We cannot stop living and proclaiming God’s goodness because of our current situation. My prayer is that the Holy Spirit will empower you today to do what needs to be accomplished so “Do It Broken”!
