The Thought For Today

Encouraging You Through God's Word

How many of you have heard some Christians say, “Yes, I trust the Lord!” They say it with such confidence until a trial or tribulation comes into their life; they lose their joy and peace. All hope or trust seems to fade away. Even in this, Jesus understands that we are human.

Real trust can only be found in Jesus. You may not know what to do at the time, but you can be determined to stand on the word of God. A Christian should be unwavering in trusting Jesus even when they cannot see their way through their situation. One of my favorite trust scriptures is found in Proverbs 3:5-6. I constantly read these 2 verses to remind myself not to get ahead of God and to trust him. It says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.” When we put our trust in Jesus, we do not have to walk around looking defeated, like we have no hope, no rock or no Savior to lean on. Jesus always come through for His people.

Real trust in Jesus comes from declaring to the enemy that no matter what happens today, I have a Savior that has proven himself to me over and over again. You must encourage yourself and declare, “I will not be moved today by what I see, how I feel or what I hear. I will only be moved and will stand on the word of God.” In Job 23:10 says, “But he knows the way that I take; when he has tested me, I will come forth as gold.” I encourage you to trust God in the process.

I am not saying today that you will always have a smile on your face or that some things will not bother you. Life touches all of us. It is what you do when life throws a jab at you that determines your level of trust. Remember, Jesus is the game changer for you and for me. He alone is our trust. Isaiah 26:3-4 reminds us, “You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord God is an everlasting rock.” Trust the only one who is trustworthy….trust Jesus.

Search myself and go deeper: Today, I am facing ___________________________. I know I can trust God. Sometimes I lose hope. There are many times that I grow impatient while waiting on God to act. Lord, help me to trust you. Lord, help me to wait on you. Jesus, you are trustworthy. Your track record is unmatched. You are my undefeated Savior. I will trust you!
