The word tolerate means to put up with something. Many Christians today willingly welcome their fleshly desires. The Church is at a place where we have mimicked the world’s desires to do whatever our flesh yearns. We have allowed our feelings to completely take over in every bad experience we encounter. You and I must get back to a place of total surrender and obedience to Jesus so “Don’t Tolerate It”.
Sin separates you and me from God. When we tolerate sin in our lives, we are no longer clinging to righteousness. James 4:17 says, “Remember, it is sin to know what you ought to do and then not do it.” Then in 1 John 9:8-9 we are reminded, “But when people keep on sinning, it shows that they belong to the devil, who has been sinning since the beginning. But the Son of God came to destroy the works of the devil. Those who have been born into God’s family do not make a practice of sinning, because God’s life is in them. So, they can’t keep on sinning because they are children of God.”
As believers we must put our full confidence in the power of the Holy Spirit to keep us. We are reminded in Hebrews 12:1-2, “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne.” When you and I keep our eyes on Jesus, it is that much harder to tolerate the sins that seem to easily entangle us.
