The word wallow is described as to roll ones body on the earth, in mire, or on other substances; to live in filth. When I hear the word, wallow, I immediately think about a pig rolling around in the mud.
A lot of times we are like that pig. We wallow in the mud of our mistakes. Then there is the mud of fear, guilt, shame and condemnation. Our sin nature is to hid and to wallow (see Genesis 3). Nevertheless, thank God for Jesus who knew our frailties.
For the person who may may be wallowing in the mud of discouragement, the word of God proclaims in Psalms 3:3, “But you, Lord, are a shield around me, my glory, the One who lifts my head high.”
For the person who is wallowing in guilt, the word of God declares in 1 John 1:9, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”
God is the one who convicts your heart while Satan condemns your mind. Remember that our daily victory is not in the do’s or don’ts, but it is in us surrendering our will to Jesus. Our victory comes in knowing that Jesus paid the price for our redemption (see Ephesians 1:7). Therefore, our victory is in us living, hiding and abiding in Jesus Christ alone…so get up and don’t wallow in the mud!
