The Thought For Today

Encouraging You Through God's Word

On my recent drive home to visit my parents, I spent time praying about various things. I prayed for different situations, people I know, and those I don’t. I also prayed about my ministry—thinking of all the YouTube subscribers, viewers, and followers on Instagram and Facebook. My sincere encouragement and prayer, as I often say at the end of my videos, is that these thoughts encourage you, but more importantly that it will lead you to Jesus, to seek God’s word. So today, I want to talk to you about you because the prayer that I prayed to the Lord was simply “Drive Them”.

“Drive Them” to your loving kindness. When we think about the character of God, He is love. Psalm 36:7 reminds us, “How priceless is your unfailing love, O God! People take refuge in the shadow of your wings.” I am so thankful that there are new mercies from our faithful God. The prophet Jeremiah wanted us to know about God’s faithfulness and love. He was remembering God’s faithfulness and love in Lamentations chapter 3 verse 21. He goes on to say in verses 22 and 23, “The faithful love of the LORD never ends!  His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning.”

I continued to pray, “Drive Them” to your word. One of the roles of the Holy Spirit is to guide, drive, or draw us to the truth of the Gospel about Jesus. Jesus reminds us in John 16:13 when He says, “When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own but will tell you what he has heard. He will tell you about the future.” This scripture emphasizes how the Holy Spirit plays a crucial role in revealing truth, guiding us to know God, understand His will, and live according to His purpose.

Lord, “Drive Them” to repentance. I love how when Jesus was talking to the Pharisees and their teachers of religious law, He said in Luke 5:32, “I have come to call not those who think they are righteous, but those who know they are sinners and need to repent.” Just like John the Baptist, Jesus was also on a mission to call sinners to repent.

Finally, as I finished my prayer, I said “Drive Them” to Jesus. I am very dogmatic and sold out to Jesus and the Christian faith. Jesus is the only way to God, the only way to Heaven. Without you acknowledge who Jesus truly is according to Scripture, you will die in your sins. Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.” Jesus is the only way! (John 14:6) By saying this statement, Jesus stressed the importance of having faith in Him as the only way to achieve salvation and eternal life.

All the encouragement and teaching, whether from me or anyone else, is meaningless unless the Holy Spirit drives you to Jesus and God’s word.
