One of the definitions for the word pressure says that it is the application of force to something by something else in direct contact with it. What is applying force to your life right now? Pressure can come in all forms from stress, to change, our experiences, sickness, death, or even a disconnection from Jesus. At certain moments, God permits the challenges of life to apply such immense pressure on us, ultimately guiding us towards His divine presence. Therefore, it is crucial for each of us to “Embrace the Pressure”.
Could it be that our sovereign God desires to expose our self-centeredness? What about our tendencies to want to make our own decisions? Well, 1 Corinthians 6 verses 19 and 20 reminds us that we do not belong to ourselves for God has bought us with a high price.
The Holy Spirit possesses the ability to unveil the real meaning behind our pressure. In my personal encounter with stress and life alterations, it became evident that my lack of communion with Him was the root cause. Because of the chaos in my life, I had disregarded the essential moments of connection with Jesus, that Jesus and me time. We require companionship with Jesus, both in times of prosperity and during the havoc. 1 Corinthians 1:9 reminds us that we have been called into fellowship with Jesus.
What pressures do you face? Is it money, relationships, family, the world, television/social media, or simply the challenges of life? Anything that we prioritize above God is considered a sin and becomes an idol. Colossians 3:5 tells us, “So put to death the sinful, earthly things lurking within you. Have nothing to do with sexual immorality, impurity, lust, and evil desires. Don’t be greedy, for a greedy person is an idolater, worshiping the things of this world.” Therefore, my prayer for myself as well as for you is that God will continually apply pressure to bring us closer and closer to His divine presence!
