“Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits.” (Psalm 103:2) This verse forms the basis of today’s thought, “Forget Not”. Written by David, this psalm celebrates God’s mercy, grace, and His abundant blessings.
When we focus on “Bless the LORD…,” David encourages us to worship God. How do you worship? Is it through obedience, worship, or your lifestyle? Psalm 100:2 instructs us to worship with joyful singing: “Serve the LORD with gladness; Come before Him with joyful singing.” 1 Thessalonians 5:18 reminds us to give thanks in all things: “In everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” Lastly, we bless the Lord by living in obedience, as Jesus said in John 14:15: “If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.”
The latter part of Psalm 103:2 reminds us to “forget not all His benefits.” As followers of Jesus, we must remember that He has ransomed us. We should actively acknowledge the good things God has done throughout history and in our lives. Personally, I can’t forget how Jesus saved me—a sinner unworthy of life or death—by His grace and drew me to Himself.
In order to live out our thought, “Forget Not”, we cannot have spiritual amnesia and forget how the Lord has made a way for our redemption through Jesus.
