We all have said at one time or another, “God Is Still In Control”. But as soon as something bad happens or things are not going the way we think they should go, we lose faith, trust, hope and patience. But today, I want to encourage you that truly “God Is Still In Control”.
Genesis 1:1 proclaims, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” This is why I know “God Is Still In Control”.
Abram and Sarai were faced with a situation in Genesis chapters 15 and 16. It describes how after Sarai had not had a child she basically took matters in her own hands. She told Abram to take her maidservant, Hagar, and sleep with her in order to produce the promised child. Even though it made things worse for Abram and Sarai, God cannot lie and therefore he must keep his promise. This story lets us know that when God makes you a promise, you may get impatient and make a misstep but in the end “God Is Still In Control”.
We must have trust that God will stay true to His Word. 2 Samuel 22:31 says, “As for God, his way is perfect: The Lord’s word is flawless; he shields all who take refuge in him.” Because we trust God we can have confidence that “God Is Still In Control”.
When we are struggling and are in need of strength to endure whatever is going on 2 Samuel 22:32-33 also declares, “For who is God besides the Lord? And who is the Rock except our God? It is God who arms me with strength and keeps my way secure.” Because my strength comes from the Lord, I am assured that “God Is Still In Control”.
We must keep the faith and believe God is our side. Deuteronomy 28:13 reminds us that, “The Lord will make you the head, not the tail. If you pay attention to the commands of the Lord your God that I give you this day and carefully follow them, you will always be at the top, never at the bottom.”
Finally we must stand. When the winds of life are blowing in all directions and there is no end in sight, we must stand on God’s Word! Not stand on what we think. Not stand on what we can see. Not stand on how we feel. Not stand on what we hear. And never stand on what we think people are saying about us and our situation. This is why in 1 Corinthians 16:13 it reminds us, “Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong.”
So no matter what comes in your life, remember to trust God, have faith in Him, and stand on His Word because GOD IS STILL IN CONTROL!!!!
“God Is Still In Control” Prayer: Most Gracious Heavenly Father, I give you glory and honor on this day. Lord Jesus, forgive me for the times I have not trusted you. Forgive me for the times I have become anxious and fretted. Jesus, in your name, I ask that you will calm my anxious thoughts. I ask that you will calm my spirit. Jesus, strengthen my faith and trust in you and in your word. Lord, all is not lost. YOU STILL SIT ON THE THRONE! Jesus, I look to you to do what only you can do. Jesus, have mercy on me today. Search my heart and my mind. If there is anything that is not like you, Jesus, I ask that you will remove it. Lord, my desire is to live for you and your will. Continue to build me up where I am weak and torn down. Lord Jesus, I will forever by your willing servant no matter what it costs me. In your mighty name, Jesus, I pray. Amen!
