The Thought For Today

Encouraging You Through God's Word

Do you ever find yourself full of anxiety? Does it seem as though everywhere you turn, there are problems? Today, you may feel your stress level increasing, worry is overtaking your mind, or you are void of peace. I want to encourage and remind you that “God Knows”.

Because our human brain cannot fathom the ways of God, we do not have the time or energy to try and figure out our problems let alone God. Isaiah 40:28 reminds us, “Have you never heard? Have you never understood? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of all the earth. He never grows weak or weary. No one can measure the depths of his understanding.” To have the confidence that “God Knows”, we can implement 3 action plans.

Action Plan #1…cast your cares. There is something very freeing about telling Jesus all about your feelings, your thoughts, and your concerns. We serve a God who loves us enough that He desires for us to bring our burdens to Him. We are encouraged to cast our cares in Psalm 55:22, 1 Peter 5:6-7, Matthew 11:28, and Psalm 62:8.

Action Plan #2…pray. Prayer is a two-way communication act between you and God. You are casting your cares then you listen for direction or encouragement. The Word of God has numerous commands about prayer. For example, Colossians 4:2 tells us to be devoted to prayer. Then we have Romans 12:12 that tells us to be faithful in prayer. And of course, we all know 1 Thessalonians 5:17.

Action Plan #3…trust God. The word “trust” appears in the Bible 66 times both in the Greek and Hebrew languages. It appears 44 times in the book of Psalm. We find in Psalm 40:4, the Sons of Korah reminds us, “Blessed is the man who makes the Lord his trust, who does not turn to the proud, to those who go astray after a lie!” David had the assurance in the God who knows, and he encourages us in Psalm 9:10 with, “And those who know your name put their trust in you, for you, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek you.”

And as a bonus action plan #4 would be to simply read God’s Word. When we are grounded in God’s Word will demonstrate Psalm 1:2-3. It says, “But they delight in the law of the LORD, meditating on it day and night. They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season. Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do.”

When you and I are facing the trials and tribulation of this old, cold world, we cannot be moved by what we see, how we feel, or what we hear. When these action plans are put into action, we can confidently boast about God and what He can do because “God Knows”.

Even though these action plans seem easy, there is a constant war going on between our flesh and our spirit. You and I are in a war. We can’t wait until all hell is breaking loose to decide we need God and His Word. That’s the wrong time. God’s Word, which is our weapon, must be used daily so we can increase in our strength, trust, and faith in what only God can do.

Shift your focus to Jesus, trust Him at His Word, and believe because “God Knows”.
