The Thought For Today

Encouraging You Through God's Word

Have you ever gotten to a point in a situation where you throw your hands up and say to the Lord, “Have your way!”? I know I have numerous times. We all have faced issues and challenges in our families, with friends, with co-workers, and even strangers. The good news today is that Jesus desires for you and me to surrender every situation to Him. There is a reason why Jesus said in Matthew 11:28, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.”

“Have Your Way” can be looked at today as a declaration, a confession that you will trust God more than you will trust yourself. Don’t be deceived by the enemy. He will try to shift our focus off Jesus and direct it to other people or our problems. This is a clever but dangerous strategy of the enemy.  Instead of reacting to the His plots and lies, the Word of God tells us in Psalm 37:7, “Be still in the presence of the LORD, and wait patiently for him to act. Don’t worry about evil people who prosper or fret about their wicked schemes.”

Today, you and I need a “Have Your Way” attitude; a “Have Your Way” mindset. With our children, “Have Your Way”. On our jobs, “Have Your Way”. When you are sold out to God’s Will, your posture will be “Have Your Way”.

“Have Your Way” Surrender Prayer:

Most Gracious Heavenly Father, I thank you for your patience toward me. You are always full of love, mercy, and grace. I will confess that I want to do things my own way. I find myself taking my life into my hands. Lord, give me the strength and wisdom to release all my cares and burdens to you. You are the only one who can solve them. I am placing my full trust in you. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
