I especially like the start of a new year! It allows me to think about the mistakes I have made, lessons I have learned and some lessons I did not learn. The start of something new seems to bring a new perspective. I can genuinely search myself and examine my issues and maybe some people or situations I need to leave behind.
I am extremely hard on myself when I make a mistake or I fail a test. A new year or a new day reminds me of a new beginning with Christ. All that I am, all that I will be, all that you are and all that you will be in a new year or for a new day is always because HE DID IT FOR YOU; HE DID IT FOR ME!!!!
When I want to be hard on myself and beat myself up for making stupid choices, God is always there to remind me of Lamentations 3:22-23 that declares, “It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great is thy faithfulness.” I thank God, HE DID IT FOR ME! When the enemy of my soul is bombarding my mind with negative thoughts, I can stand of 1 Corinthians 2:16 that tells me that I have the mind of Christ. When the enemy brings fear on me, I can stand on 2 Timothy 1:7 that says, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” When I think about all the things Christ endured and gave up for me, I tell myself, “He Did It For Me”. When I am having one of those days and I do not feel worthy or loved, I remember John 15:13 that reminds me that “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” When I think about how could I neglect so great a sacrifice and salvation for the things of this world, I tell myself, “He Did It For Me”.
So, when I think about how:
1. Jesus was rejected and hated…He did it for me.
2. He took on shame…He did it for me.
3. He took the whips and beatings…He did it for me.
4. He accepted being separated from God and left heaven and his throne…He did it for me.
5. He loved me enough, a wretch and unworthy person, to give up His life…He did it for me.
6. I was not worthy of this gift but Christ justified me…He did it for me.
7. How could I not live for Him or serve Him…He did it for me.
Today, think about all the things that Christ has done for you. You have breath to breathe. You have a provider. Jesus loves you. He died for you to have peace. He sacrificed His life for you to have life. When you think about this wonderful, free gift, you can say, “He Did It For Me”!
“He Did It For Me” Praise: Lord Jesus, I thank you. Lord, I love you. Thank you Jesus for dying in my place. You are so worthy of my praise. Thank you Lord, that even when I don’t see things happening you are still working. Jesus, even when I don’t feel it, you are still working on my behalf. Jesus, thank you for every closed door. Thank you for everyone who left my life because that is an indication that they were not tied to my destiny! Lord, I surrender my desires to you. Lord, I give you my pain. Lord, I give you my disappointments. Jesus, I surrender everything that may hinder me from giving my whole heart to you. I surrender it all! Jesus, I owe you my life. I am grateful for the sacrifice that you made for me. Lord, I did not deserve so great of a sacrifice but Jesus, I’m so glad you did it for me!
