Because God is love, it is in His nature to be loving. All through the Bible, God demonstrated His love for mankind. We have proof that He honors His word. Whether it was Moses, Hannah, David, Daniel, or Elijah, God never ceases to be Himself! God has a way of coming in strong for His people. This reminder should bring all of us joy because whatever you face in this life, you and I can have the confidence that “He Worked It Out!”
When you and I think about the Samaritan woman at the well, she could testify that, “He Worked It Out!” Her story is told in John 4. Picture this: a woman comes to draw water in the middle of the day and a stranger asks her for water. In verse 7 Jesus says to her, “Please give me a drink.” Being a Samaritan, she is amazed that Jesus is talking to her. Verse 9 says, “The woman was surprised, for Jews refuse to have anything to do with Samaritans. She said to Jesus, ‘You are a Jew, and I am a Samaritan woman. Why are you asking me for a drink?’” Then the conversation gets interesting. Jesus begins to talk to her about what she really needs-LIVING WATER. Of course, the woman does not understand, and she says in verses 11-12, “But sir, you don’t have a rope or a bucket,” she said, “and this well is very deep. Where would you get this living water? And besides, do you think you’re greater than our ancestor Jacob, who gave us this well? How can you offer better water than he and his sons and his animals enjoyed?” Jesus now has her undivided attention. She says in verse 15, “‘Please, sir,'” the woman said, “‘give me this water! Then I’ll never be thirsty again, and I won’t have to come here to get water.'” So, what did Jesus work out for her? He gave her living water. Jesus spoke to her brokenness. You see Jesus has a way of meeting you right where you are. He doesn’t need a big crowd. You don’t have to have any money or the finer things in life. He simply desires us to believe Him. Later in verses 28-30 it says, “The woman left her water jar beside the well and ran back to the village, telling everyone, ‘Come and see a man who told me everything I ever did! Could he possibly be the Messiah?’ So, the people came streaming from the village to see him.”
When you and I have an encounter with the true and living God, whatever is wrong He makes it right. Whatever you are lacking, He fills it. If you need love, He will give it to you. If you need redemption, He has you covered. Jesus will go to any lengths to rescue you. Be encouraged today and know that whatever your situation may be, Jesus is well able to work it out!
