The Thought For Today

Encouraging You Through God's Word

There are times when you and I need hard truths with love! So many times, if not every time, we find ourselves waiting for our change to come. We have prayed to God to change our circumstances. We have sought the Lord. And still nothing. Either the Lord has been silent, or He says to be still and trust Him.

When you hear the word purpose, you may immediately think about your calling or your God-given gifts. This word purpose that I am talking about today means to have as one’s objective or intention. The breaking news on today is that your situations/dilemmas have been God orchestrated to have you “Here on Purpose”.

Many of us do not wait well and that causes us to be “Here on Purpose”. It is our human nature not to desire to wait for anything. We are in that microwave generation where we want what we want NOW! However, if you and I desire to wait well we must do it God’s way. Galatians 6:9 encourages us by saying, “So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.” Allow David to minister to you on how to wait well. Psalm 25:1-5 says, “O LORD, I give my life to you. I trust in you, my God! Do not let me be disgraced, or let my enemies rejoice in my defeat. No one who trusts in you will ever be disgraced, but disgrace comes to those who try to deceive others. Show me the right path, O LORD; point out the road for me to follow. Lead me by your truth and teach me, for you are the God who saves me. All day long I put my hope in you.”

Timing with God is everything. Just because you and I are uncomfortable does not make God move any faster. God is well aware of how long you and I have been waiting. With the help of the Holy Spirit, we must set our minds to be patient and trust God because we are “Here on Purpose”.

Search yourself and go deeper:

1. Why do you think you are in this place/situation?

2. Do you wait well?

3. Sometimes your waiting may not be about you at all. God may be preparing the place for you. Today, cast your cares on Him!

“Here on Purpose” Prayer: Most Gracious, Heavenly, Father, we are here because there is no other place we desire to be. Lord, you know our hearts. You are well aware of our motives. Help us to desire what you desire for our lives. We simply do not understand why we are still here. Open our eyes, Lord, and show us ourselves. Jesus, reveal to us what you want us to see and know about ourselves and this situation. We refuse to manipulate people and situations in order to make anything happen on our own. Jesus, we are looking to you to do what only you can do. Your servants are listening. We are expecting you to speak. Eliminate the distractions. Holy Spirit, give us strength to trust in the Lord with all of our hearts. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
