The Thought For Today

Encouraging You Through God's Word

Today’s thought focuses on the scripture in Psalm 143:10. It says, “Teach me to do your will, for you are my God; may your good Spirit lead me on level ground.” Our spirit man wants and yearns to be like Jesus. Because we were created to serve God, we must open our heart to the will of God. Our heartbeat must be to long to do God’s will and not our own. When we confessed our sins to Christ and accepted him as our Savior, we surrendered our will for His will. If we are to be Christ-like, we must submit our will to Jesus. We must remember that even Christ came to this world to do His father’s will and not his (see John 6:38).

Right now, renounce any attempt to try to manipulate or use God’s grace and kindness for your benefit. Submit and surrender your will to God’s will. Even though we all struggle at times with our own selfish and evil desires that leads us astray, make a plea to the Lord today saying, “I desire to do your will, Lord.”

“I Desire to do Your Will” Prayer: Lord Jesus, I confess that I struggle at times with wanting to do your will. I realize it is the sinful nature that is in me. However, Lord, I surrender my desire today. I will trust that you know what is best for me. I will trust you to guide me and help me in each situation. As I surrender my will daily to you, please give me the strength to deny myself. Give me the strength, Lord, to be obedient and to live my life according to your word. Lord, I know I will make mistakes, help me to repent and get back on the right path. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
