The Thought For Today

Encouraging You Through God's Word

The word refuse is an action verb. Refuse means to decline to accept something; to deny a request or demand. In each of our lives we accept so many things that the enemy tries to give us. We accept what people say about us. We continue to be trapped by our past, our situations, and our destructive thoughts. However, on today, I have made a resolution against the enemy and this world that simply says, “I Refuse!”.

I refuse to give in to fear: 2 Timothy 1:7 tells us, “For God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”

I refuse to live in unforgiveness: Ephesians 4:31-32 says, “Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.”

I refuse to stay in the same place that is unfruitful: Matthew 13:22 reminds us, “As for what was sown among thorns, this is the one who hears the word, but the cares of the world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and it proves unfruitful.”

I refuse to not walk in love: Ephesians 5:1-2 says, “Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children and walk in love, just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma.”

I refuse to not stand on God’s word: James 1:22 says, “But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.”

I refuse to not let my light shine: Matthew 5:16 says, “In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”

I refuse to give away my peace: Colossians 3:15 says, “Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.”

I refuse to not pray for my enemies: Luke 6:27-28 says, “But to you who are listening I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.”

I refuse to live in the past: Philippians 3:13-14 proclaims, “Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”

I REFUSE! I REFUSE! I REFUSE!

In order to live like Jesus, I refuse to be bound by anything and to live like the world lives.

On today, I refuse!

Search myself and go deeper: In my life, what have I allowed to control me? What have I allowed to steal my peace, my joy and my self worth? Today, I will write my own “I Refuse” resolution.
