What do you long for in your heart? Perhaps a different job, a meaningful relationship, financial stability, a beautiful home, or the ideal life? It is easy to become consumed by the materialistic aspects of society. Sometimes, we may lose sight of spiritual matters and instead prioritize worldly possessions. While it is natural to have desires, we must remember not to give precedence to anything above our relationship with Jesus. For Matthew 6:33 reminds us, “Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.” On today, my desire is for us to shift our focus on what Jesus has to offer us because “I Want Him”.
When Jesus walked this Earth, He wanted the disciples to shift their focus from an earthly mindset to a heavenly one. Jesus reminded them in Matthew 24:35 that, “Heaven and earth will disappear, but my words will never disappear.” Then Colossians 3:2 tells us to set our minds on the things above. Jesus ultimately wants us to desire, pursue, and yearn for Him. Matthew 16:26 gives us something to think about when it says, “And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? Is anything worth more than your soul?”
To successfully complete this race, it is essential for us to cultivate a mindset focused on heavenly things. According to Scripture, individuals who engage in right thinking are rewarded with abundant blessings. For example, Isaiah 26:3 says, “You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!” So, those who focus on God and His kingdom will experience complete peace rather than anxiety and concern. When we feel anxious or worried, it is an indicator that we have shifted away from a mindset centered on God. Therefore, let us pray for a heavenly perspective and let us pursue His kingdom agenda. Because when you and I prioritize Jesus above all else, our lives will reflect this thought, “I Want Him”!
