If you have confessed Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior, you have an enemy and his name is Satan. It is Satan’s job to be a discourager, a liar, a deceiver, a murderer and a thief. Before today, you may have been discouraged, brokenhearted, disappointed or tired in your spirit. The good news is “I Was Down But I’m Not Out”.
We must realize that spiritual warfare is real. For the word of God says in Ephesians 6:12, “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”
Luke chapter 8 verses 11-15 describes what happens to us in this warfare. “This is the meaning of the parable: The seed is the word of God. Those along the path are the ones who hear, and then the devil comes and takes away the word from their hearts, so that they may not believe and be saved. Those on the rock are the ones who receive the word with joy when they hear it, but they have no root. They believe for a while, but in the time of testing they fall away. The seed that fell among thorns stands for those who hear, but as they go on their way they are choked by life’s worries, riches and pleasures, and they do not mature. But the seed on good soil stands for those with a noble and good heart, who hear the word, retain it, and by persevering produce a crop.”
There can be no more church as usual. It is time out for settling for a mediocre, complacent life and relationship with Jesus. If you’ve been down, this is how to make it impossible to be out…
- Pray according to God’s word which is His Will. Paul told us in 1 Thessalonians 5:17, “Pray without ceasing.”
- Jeremiah 1:12 proclaims that God watches over His word to perform it. Never forget that God is for you when you and your life line up with His word.
- Numbers 23:19 says, “God is not a man that he should lie…” Believe God’s word over what you see or how you feel.
- Hebrews 4:12 declares, “For the word of God is alive and active: sharper than any double-edged sword…” So use your weapon!
When you are an obedient servant of Jesus Christ and you pray according to God’s word, you are tossing God’s word back at Him and God must honor His word.
Satan is not going to leave you alone for good. He comes in seasons but you must use your weapon. You can’t wait to use God’s word when you feel defeated, get discouraged or when all hell is breaking loose. We must use it when the sun is shining and the birds are singing.
Because Jesus is alive, He is our advocate, our fighter, our cheerleader and our strong tower…Remember I may have been down but glory be to God I’m not out.
“I Was Down But I’m Not Out” Warrior Prayer: Most Gracious, Heavenly Father, I give you the glory. I honor you, Lord. You are in control. People are not in control. You have the final authority and say so over my life. My hope and trust is in You. Help me to keep my eyes on you. Jesus, life has once again knocked me down. But I give you the praise because I am on your side. No weapon formed against me shall prosper. You are fighting for me. Equip me to stand on your word. Give me the holy boldness to declare that YOU ARE LORD! I surrender my tendency to try and control my life or situations. Help me. Lord, I need you to correct my attitude towards people. Let me remember that I wrestle not against flesh and blood but against spiritual forces of evil. I will not give up. I will not throw in the towel. Get the glory out of my pain and disappointments. I may be down but because of you, Jesus, I will never be out! In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
