Matthew 6:33 in the NIV says, “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” When we think about what Jesus was really saying, our minds should turn immediately to the word surrender.
In order for us to seek His kingdom, we must have a mind to let go of our ways and cling to His ways. When we look at seeking God’s righteousness, this means that we are to grab a hold to His holiness, everything that is right, and all that is true (His Word). This will involve us telling our flesh, our desires, and anything that is not His will, NO! My prayer for you today is that you will seek Him because Jesus is worthy of your full surrender to Him.
Let’s pray: Most Gracious Heavenly Father, thank you for the opportunity to once again come boldly but humbly to your throne of grace. Thank you for your many mercies, for your love, and patience you have demonstrated toward those you love. Lord, help us to surrender everything that we are trying to fix or manipulate. Help us to search ourselves. Lord, have mercy on us and remind us that you are in control of every situation, every battle, and in every broken place. You are the God that specializes in redemption! Thank you, Lord, for the answered prayers before we see them manifest in our lives. We surrender every part of us to your trustworthy hand. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
