Imagine planting a seed in the ground, faithfully watering it every day, but seeing no sign of growth for weeks or months. Many of us might feel tempted to give up, doubting if the seed will ever sprout. In the same way, as Christians we often feel discouraged when the promises of God seem delayed or when life doesn’t unfold as quickly as we hope. My favorite go-to scripture on waiting is found in Galatians 6:9 that reminds us, “Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary.” This verse invites us to trust that God’s timing is perfect and that He sees our labor and faithfulness, even when the results aren’t immediately visible. Waiting isn’t wasted time; it’s a season of preparation where God strengthens our character, deepens our trust, and aligns our hearts with His will. Consider Joseph, who spent years as a slave and prisoner before God elevated him to the position of second-in-command in Egypt. Though Joseph endured betrayal and injustice, he trusted in God’s timing, and his perseverance led to the saving of many lives.
As we reflect on God’s promises, we must shift our focus from superficial blessings like material possessions to the deeper, more enduring gifts of peace, grace, and spiritual growth. The Apostle Paul says in 2 Corinthians 4:17-18, “For momentary, light affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison, while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal.” What if your “due season” is not a bigger house or a new job but the strength to endure, the ability to forgive, or the joy of being deeply rooted in God’s Word? Ecclesiastes 3:1 assures us that “There is an appointed time for everything.” Trusting God’s timing means surrendering our timeline and believing that God will fulfill His Word at the right moment. I will often think of Hannah in 1 Samuel chapter 1, who longed for a child and endured years of heartache before God blessed her with Samuel. Her patient trust in God not only brought personal joy but also positioned her son to become a prophet and leader in Israel. So, whether you’re waiting for an answer to a prayer or a season of breakthrough, hold on to His promises. Be encouraged—your waiting has a purpose, even your pain and tears have a purpose, and in God’s perfect time, you and I will reap a harvest beyond what we could imagine.
Let’s pray:
Lord, help us to seek Your Word daily and trust in Your perfect timing, even when the answers seem delayed. Strengthen our faith to believe that Your plans are always good and that in due season, You will fulfill every promise. In Jesus name amen.
