The Thought For Today

Encouraging You Through God's Word

To pivot means to turn or completely change the way in which one does something. Many if not all of us have experience with pivoting. For women, we have one outfit in mind, but it does not come together so we change our outfit selection. For men, they think they have the directions to a particular place, but they found themselves lost so they must go in a different route. Many people are living their own lives apart from having a relationship with Jesus. There are some people in the church that do not live fully devoted to Him. On today, if you are not a believer in Jesus Christ or find yourself taking your life in your own hands apart from Jesus, “It’s Time to Pivot”.

For you to pivot toward Jesus, you first must repent. Repenting simply means you are changing your mind. You confess that you do not know what is best for your life, you are a sinner in need of a Savior, and you turn to Jesus. 2 Peter 3:9 says, “The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed but wants everyone to repent.”

Once you have repented, it is time for you to surrender. This will be a process. You will find that in some areas it is easy for you to pivot from your old way toward Jesus which is the new way. Regardless of the difficulty, this is where the Holy Spirit will be your helper. Luke 9:23 says, “And he said to all, ‘If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.’” You can think of your cross as your life; you are dying daily to your old ways.

When you come to the end of yourself or your situation you will realize that “It’s Time to Pivot”.

Search yourself and go deeper:

1. If you are not a believer in Jesus, what is hindering you from pivoting to Him?

Prayer for the Unbeliever: For the person who is reading this Lord, I ask that you touch their minds and hearts so that they will acknowledge that you are bigger and greater than them. Holy Spirit, I am asking that you do what you do best—draw them to the Father! Lord, trouble them in their sleep until they repent and surrender their lives to you. This prayer I pray on behalf of any unbeliever. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

2. If you are a believer in Jesus, what area(s) of your life do you need to pivot?

Prayer for the Believer: Most Gracious Heavenly Father, thank you Lord that you always send an encouraging word, a reminder to your people to pivot! Help us to surrender our will for your will. Help us Holy Spirit in leading us to God’s word. We acknowledge that we need you, Jesus, and we cannot live this life apart from you. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
