Amen is a Hebrew word that means so be it or let it be. It is used most often as a declaration of agreement. To say amen as well as yes simply means that I agree. As dedicated followers of Christ, it is imperative that the position of our hearts align wholeheartedly with TRUTH! There is only one truth and that is of God’s Word as John 17:17 says. Today, our amen time is here. “It’s Time to Say Yes and Amen” to God and His Word.
“It’s Time to Say Yes and Amen” because you were purchased by the precious blood of Jesus. Galatians 1:4 reminds us by saying, “Jesus gave his life for our sins, just as God our Father planned, in order to rescue us from this evil world in which we live.”
“It’s Time to Say Yes and Amen” because you and I cannot claim to be self-reliant. Talking to my Sunday School class recently about Proverbs 3, I made the comment that “self-reliance is a killer”; it’s not biblical. Human beings often believe that they possess absolute knowledge and understanding that surpasses the knowledge of God. However, Proverbs 3:7 tells us, “Don’t be impressed with your own wisdom. Instead, fear the LORD and turn away from evil.” I like how the New Revised Standard words it. It says, “Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and turn away from evil.” The more you and I trust God, we will be drawn more to Him and further away from evil. Amen?!
Finally, “It’s Time to Say Yes and Amen” because we must believe the truth of the Gospel. This Good News is about Jesus. In Colossians chapter 1 verse 23 Paul reminds us, “But you must continue to believe this truth and stand firmly in it. Don’t drift away from the assurance you received when you heard the Good News. The Good News has been preached all over the world, and I, Paul, have been appointed as God’s servant to proclaim it.”
Today, my earnest prayer is that we will wholeheartedly trust in God’s Word, align ourselves with His divine plan, relinquish our own desires and dedicate our lives to Him so that we will be in harmony with God’s purpose for us. When we fully surrender to Jesus, our unwavering response will always be a resounding yes and amen.
