Have you ever been confronted by a person with an issue they had with you? Can you remember a time when you were embarrassed by comments someone made in public? Well, at some point in each of our lives, we have all been called out. To be called out simply means to scold or criticize someone strongly. But on today, Jesus wants to remind you of who you are in Him. Jesus is calling you out!
“I’ve Been Called Out” of darkness. When you accept Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior, you are no longer condemned, but you are welcomed into God’s Kingdom. Colossians 1:13-14 says, “For He rescued us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.”
“I’ve Been Called Out” to be set apart. We live in a pagan world. It is easy for us to make anything out of an idol. Such things as the television, our possessions, food, people, and ideas can all be used by the enemy as idols. 2 Corinthians 6:14-18 warns us against this. Specifically, in verse 17, it says, “‘Therefore, come out from them and be separate’, says the Lord. ‘Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you.’”
“I’ve Been Called Out” to live godly. 2 Timothy 3:1-5 describes characteristics that should not be found among God’s people! It says, “But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.”
“I’ve Been Called Out” to be peculiar. I know it is awkward because everyone wants to be liked and included in the crowd. However, when you chose Jesus, you were called out to be different! 1 Peter 2:9 reminds us, “But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.”
Jesus desires for you to know who you are: blessed, chosen, loved, worthy, and so much more. Do not allow any sinful lifestyle, hard-heartedness, and selfish desires to keep you from experiencing God’s best for you. So, I encourage you today to examine yourself. Remember, it is better to be called out by Jesus than to be in hands of the Evil One.
