The Thought For Today

Encouraging You Through God's Word

Jude 1:24-25 says, “Now all glory to God, who is able to keep you from falling away and will bring you with great joy into his glorious presence without a single fault. All glory to him who alone is God, our Savior through Jesus Christ our Lord. All glory, majesty, power, and authority are his before all time, and in the present, and beyond all time! Amen.”

Jude was talking to believers. There were ungodly people who had infiltrated into the church. He gave examples of the kind of people Christians needed to be aware of. In Jude 1 verse 16, he says, “These people are grumblers and complainers, living only to satisfy their desires. They brag loudly about themselves, and they flatter others to get what they want.”

In order for Jesus to have us covered, we must live according to His standards. His standards are outlined in His Word. If we are followers of Jesus, you and I must act like it. We are reminded in 1 John 2:15-17, “Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you. For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father but are from this world. And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever.” Jesus will cover us when we obey Him!

“Jesus Has You Covered” Prayer:

Most Gracious, Heavenly, Father, thank you for today. You are the great I AM! Nothing escapes your presence. You are well aware of everything that is happening around me. Lord, I thank you that I can trust you and your word to cover me. Allow the Holy Spirit to give me the wisdom and strength to keep in step with Him. Give me a yearning for your Word. Help me to honor you by how I live, act, speak, and think. I am nothing without Jesus. I cannot live without Him! Hide me in the shadow of your wings. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
