Romans chapter 6 verse 1 asks the question, “Well then, should we keep on sinning so that God can show us more and more of his wonderful grace?” And Paul answers the question in verse 2 by saying, “Of course not! Since we have died to sin, how can we continue to live in it?” As believers, we tend to place “certain” sins in categories. You know those “big” and “little” sins. However, God views sin as sin.
The entire chapter in Romans 6 emphasizes the fact, “Just Because You Can Doesn’t Mean You Should”. This means in each area of our lives we are to use wisdom and allow the Holy Spirit to direct us on when or how we should speak or respond to people or situations. In addition to that, Romans 6:12-13 reminds us, “Do not let sin control the way you live; do not give in to sinful desires. Do not let any part of your body become an instrument of evil to serve sin. Instead, give yourselves completely to God, for you were dead, but now you have new life. So use your whole body as an instrument to do what is right for the glory of God.”
Every day, every exchange with another person, every interaction we have with them gives us the chance to act contrary to who we should be in Christ. This is the enemy’s plan so that your witness can be tarnished. We must never forget that we represent Jesus. His Ways should always take the right-away so remember “Just Because You Can Doesn’t Mean You Should”.
This is strong Wisdom!! Please Lord, always give me discernment along with the ability to act on it!
The ability to discern will keep us from harming others and eventually ourselves.
