The Thought For Today

Encouraging You Through God's Word

In the 1980’s, the deadly, highly addictive drug known as “crack” cocaine was developed. Nancy Raegan pinned the famous campaign called “Just Say No”. Mere human strength is no match for any drug or a hopeless situation. Our incapable willpower cannot defeat the Evil One. It is only in the Holy Spirit’s strength that we can be victorious when we let Him take the reins in our lives.

It is important for you and me to remember that people are not our enemies. Satan uses individuals and circumstances to discourage us, distract us, and to hinder our walk with Jesus. Ephesians 6:12 reminds us, “For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.”

Our strength must come from God and not from ourselves if we intend to win. Ephesians 6:10 declares, “Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.” You and I were not created to fight our battles in our human strength. Difficult moments will happen to each of us. Nevertheless, we must cling to God’s word. Remember Paul says in Ephesians 6:13, “Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm.”

“Just Say No” was a great slogan and campaign, but they were mere words. When you and I apply God’s word that is alive and powerful to any situation, we can stand undefeated.

Action Plan for Today:

1. Read, meditate, and pray on Ephesians 6. Listen to what the Holy Spirit says to you.
