The Holy Spirit is a third member of the triune God. The person and the work of the Holy Spirit is numerous. From being a source to being a dweller to convicting to helping, there is nothing and no one that can replace Him because He is “Keeping Power”! You may be thinking why I would call this thought, “Keeping Power”. Well, let me give you a few reasons….
The Holy Spirit is “Keeping Power” because when I was lost in my sins, He convicted and rescued me. Jesus said in John 16:8-9, “And when he comes, he will convict the world of its sin, and of God’s righteousness, and of the coming judgment. The world’s sin is that it refuses to believe in me.”
The Holy Spirit is “Keeping Power” because when I wanted to live life on my own terms, He didn’t allow me to lose my mind. You see, He gave me a new mind. Romans 8:5-6 says, “Those who are dominated by the sinful nature think about sinful things, but those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things that please the Spirit. So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace.”
The truth is I can go on and on about how the Holy Spirit has kept me and how he continues to keep me like I know He is keeping you too. This is why as believers we must testify to the world that this “Keeping Power” is not due to our so-called goodness or any work, but because of the sacrifice that Jesus paid on the cross.
