Today’s thought is a plea for Jesus! So many people are smiling on the outside but are hurting on the inside. Our mess is a hindrance and stumbling block for us. If we allow our mess to continue, it detours our walk with Christ.
What is this mess? This mess is any sin. It could even be a sickness. Maybe your mess is drugs, lying, gambling, jealousy, fear, doubt, backbiting, past hurts, fornication, alcohol, adultery, and the list goes on. On today, lay this mess at the feet of Jesus. When you lay your mess at His feet, it is a sign of surrender. The good news is that you do not have to share your mess with me, and I do not have to share my mess with you. Whatever it is, let’s surrender it to Jesus. Psalms 34:17 reminds us, “The LORD hears his people when they call to him for help. He rescues them from all their troubles.”
You and I cannot depend on our human strength to get rid of our mess. Jesus encourages us with Matthew 11:28-30 by saying, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.” Allow God to work with you and within you to rid you of the shame of your mess. We have been chained to our mess far too long. Why not be chained to Jesus?
Look at your mess as a place where God will reveal to you who He is. It is in your surrendering to Him that you can “Lay This Mess at His Feet”.
