What does Jesus mean to you? Do you read his word only when you are going through trials and tribulations? Do you only pray during the bad times? Are you one of those busy church folks who has too many irons in the fire that you are too busy to have a personal relationship with the Lord? Or when problems come into your life, do you tell Jesus, “Oh, I got this one. You can go and help someone else!”
But then there are those few people that has made Jesus their everything. Jesus said in Matthew 7:14, “But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.”
He is “My Everything” because he is my rock. I can lean and depend on him when everyone in my life forsakes me. Deuteronomy 32:4 reminds us, “He is the Rock, His work is perfect; for all His ways are justice, a God of truth and without injustice; righteous and upright is He.”
He is “My Everything” because he is my friend. Jesus said in John 15:13, “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.”
He is “My Everything” because he loved me before I even existed. In Romans 8:35-39, Paul describes the love of Jesus. He asks, “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?” Because of Jesus nothing shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus.
Today, when you make the choice to totally surrender your life and your will for what Jesus Christ offers, you have made Jesus your everything.
Search myself and go deeper: Is my life demonstrating that Jesus is my everything? Who is on the throne of my heart? What can I do to position Jesus first in my life?
