The Thought For Today

Encouraging You Through God's Word

Have you ever known someone who was always right? Maybe you have a family member who does not apologize very often for the wrong things they may have said or done. These kinds of people are not humble and tend to lean toward self-righteousness. They are simply blind to their own sinful character. When we think about who we are at our core, we should realize that we are sinners. We are guilty of the crime. You and I were sentenced to death! However, when you and I made a confession that Jesus Christ was Lord, Jesus declared us “Not Guilty”!

As Paul was instructing Titus on how to teach the Believers in Crete, he reminded Titus in chapter 3 verses 3-7 of how we were before Christ and who we are now that we have placed our faith in Christ. These powerful verses say, “Once we, too, were foolish and disobedient. We were misled and became slaves to many lusts and pleasures. Our lives were full of evil and envy, and we hated each other. But— When God our Savior revealed his kindness and love, he saved us, not because of the righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He washed away our sins, giving us a new birth and new life through the Holy Spirit. He generously poured out the Spirit upon us through Jesus Christ our Savior. Because of his grace he declared us righteous and gave us confidence that we will inherit eternal life.”

Today’s thought is for that person who still cannot forgive themselves for what they said or for what they did. We all did something sinful. You are not the only one. But because God is so gracious towards us, He loved us anyway. He forgave you and me anyway. You too must forgive yourself because when you confessed Jesus as your Lord and Savior it meant that you are “Not Guilty”!

As a result of what Jesus did on the cross, you and I have Romans 8:1-2. It proclaims, “So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. And because you belong to him, the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death.”

On today, walk in the freedom that Christ’s blood redeemed you from because you are NOT GUILTY!
