The Thought For Today

Encouraging You Through God's Word

The word “impossible” means that there is no way something can happen. Many years ago, people said that it was impossible for man to walk on the moon. In the day of Moses, the Israelites thought it was impossible for them to be delivered out of Egypt and Pharaoh’s hand. Some of us may think, it is impossible for us to escape, overcome, or breakthrough our problems. In all these situations, you are right, it is IMPOSSIBLE for man and his might to do or have done any of these things. But Jesus said in Matthew 19:26, “With men this is impossible but with God all things are possible.”

  • With man it is impossible for you to “save” yourself but with Jesus it was possible for him to save us by taking on our sins- the past, the present, and the future on himself. In Romans 5:8 it says, “But God commended his love toward us in that, while we were yet sinners Christ died for us.”
  • With man, it was impossible for Sarah and Abraham to have conceived a child in their old age, but with God, it was possible.  In Genesis 18:14 it says, “Is anything too hard for the Lord? At the time appointed I will return unto thee according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son.”
  • With man, it is impossible for us to have joy in the world. With man, it is impossible to love our enemies. With man, it is impossible to go on when our bodies are in pain.

But with Jesus all things are possible. He is the only way, the truth, and the life as described in John 14:6. Because all things are possible with Jesus, he only has to speak it and it will be done. If we would only try Jesus, we would know of our own selves we can do nothing but that all things are possible only with Jesus.

Search myself and go deeper: What I’m I dealing with that seems impossible for Jesus? Do I trust Him? What scriptures can I find about my situation? I will trust and apply those scriptures to my situation until God changes me or my situation. Don’t forget what Jesus has done for you before.
