This word “storm” has nothing to do with any weather condition. The storm I speak of is the trial and tribulation in your life. You may be asking yourself, “How can I praise Him when I have a child or family member on drugs?” “How can I praise Him when I am being talked about and lied on at my job?” “How can I praise Him when my husband or wife is not treating me right?” “How can I praise Him through this pandemic?” and “How can I praise Him when all hell is breaking loose in my life?”
When you are going through something, it is not a question as to how can I praise Jesus but why should I praise Him? First, decide who is greater: you, Satan or Jesus? In 1 John 4:4 it says, “Greater is He (Jesus) that is in me than he (Satan) who is in this world.” Next, realize Satan is a liar according to John 8:44. So when he speaks, he spits out lies to kill, steal and destroy you. If we are followers of Christ, then we must wholeheartedly pray as Jesus did in Matthew 26:39, “Not as my will Lord, but yours be done.” We must not forget that regardless of how things look, Romans 8:28 reminds us, “All things are working for the good of them that love God and those who are called according to His purpose.” Lastly, praise Him for what he has already done and for what he will do according to His word. Something happens when you begin to magnify Jesus and not the problem. You will receive the peace of God which passes all understanding according to Philippians 4:7. Because Jesus is acquainted with your sorrows, praise Him through your storm.
Search myself and go deeper: I’m I allowing my situation to get the best of me? Do I find myself anxious? Do I find myself doubting? I must do my part and trust in the Lord. I will encourage myself with Psalm 23. If God was there for David, He will be there for me!
