The Thought For Today

Encouraging You Through God's Word

The word control is defined as the power to influence or direct people’s behavior or the course of events. Many of us at times have tried to manipulate people to do what we want them to do. In many cases, this backfired on us. Or we have tried to manage certain situations in our lives. At the end, we have found that we are worse off than before. Some of us live in a forever fantasy world where we think we will never have hard times. But the reality is, we live in a fallen and sinful world. On today, whatever you are facing “Put the Lord on It”!

“Put the Lord on It” because He is in control. When you and I are in pressing places, we must remember that nothing touches us before it goes through God’s hand first! Psalm 115:3 reminds us, “Our God is in heaven; he does whatever pleases him.”

“Put the Lord on It” because He is powerful. When you lack strength to make another step, look to Jesus. Luke 1:37 tells us, “For nothing will be impossible with God.”

“Put the Lord on It” because He knows everything. There have been many times in my life where information has been hidden from me. I couldn’t understand what was going on or what to do. But when I searched the scriptures, Psalm 147:5 reminded me, “Great is our Lord, and abundant in power; his understanding is beyond measure.”

“Put the Lord on It” and pray about it. One of my favorite scriptures about prayer is in 1 Thessalonians 5. Verses 16-18 lets us know, “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

“Put the Lord on It” and trust in Him. Even after David was anointed to be king, King Saul was still on the throne. David wrote Psalm 57 while hiding in a cave. Can you imagine being anointed as king, but you are on the run for your life? I am sure David was discouraged. But there is one thing that David did that you and I must do…trust in the Lord. David said in Psalm 37:5, “Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.”

When you “Put the Lord on It”, you can trust that the God that knows how to handle it will work it out for your good but for His glory!

“Put the Lord on It” Prayer and Praise Report: Most Gracious Heavenly Father, we thank you that you are Supreme! At the end of the day, you are in absolute control over every seen and unseen situation. Lord, have mercy on us. We think we know everything but if the truth is told, we do not know anything. We need your help. We glorify you because we know that our help comes from you. Wisdom comes from you. You have proven yourself to us over and over again. We can trust your Word. We can trust that you have our backs. Jesus, we love you. Show us how to “Put the Lord on It”! If the Holy Spirit does not guide us, we do not know where to go or what to do. We are looking to you to do what only you can do. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
