We have all seen those videos of a military father surprising their child. At first, the father stands in the crowd, hiding in plain sight. As he steps out, the child’s eye catches him. He opens his arms as the child is running and crying towards him. This is how Jesus wants to receive us today. Jesus desires for you and me to “Run to Him”.
“Run to Him” because He forgives our sins. 1 John 1:8-9 reminds us, “If we claim we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and not living in the truth. But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.”
“Run to Him” because He loves you. 1 John 4:8-11 says, “But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love. God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him. This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins. Dear friends, since God loved us that much, we surely ought to love each other.”
As we begin a new year, a new day, Jesus is waiting on you to fellowship with Him. He is waiting on you to forgive yourself. Jesus is waiting on you to forsake all others in order to follow Him. He is patiently wondering if you will deny yourself of your desires and yearn for His desires. “Run to Him” while there is time!
