The word “seek” means to go in search of; to go after a thing you desire or want; to try to acquire or gain something.
It seems like I am always asking God for something. However, I am encouraged that the Word of God says in John 14:13, “And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.” But God says just for today, don’t seek my hand but seek my heart.
It seems like I am always casting my cares on God as I should. For the word of God reminds me in Psalms 55:22, “Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.” But God says just for today, don’t seek my hand but seek my heart.
It seems like I am always anxious about something. But God reminds me that Philippians 4:6 says, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”
Since God has seen the end from the beginning, He knows that we can and will get distracted and consumed by the cares of this world. We will at times get overwhelmed with our to-do lists, our problems, situations and circumstances. But just for today God wants just one person to declare Psalms 57:7 that says, “My heart is fixed , O God, my heart is fixed. I will sing and give praise.”
So just for today don’t seek God’s hand and what He can give you, but simply seek His heart.
Seek His Heart Prayer: Most Gracious Heavenly Father, I give you thanks for today. Lord, I seek you today. I seek your heart. I seek your love. I seek your peace. I seek your Word! Lord, I run to you. I thank you that you have never turned me away from your loving arms. I thank you for Jesus. I give you glory that He ransomed me. Lord, I give you honor on this day to have your way. I give you the right a way in my life to do what glorifies you. Lord, I love you. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
