The Thought For Today

Encouraging You Through God's Word

The word “seek” means to go in search of; to go after a thing you desire or want; to try to acquire or gain something.

It seems like I am always asking God for something. However, the Word of God does says in John 14:13, “And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.” But God says just for today don’t seek my hand but seek my heart.

It seems like I am always casting my cares on God as I should. For the word of God tells me in Psalms 55:22, “Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.” But God says just for today don’t seek my hand but seek my heart.

It seems like I am always anxious about something. But God reminds me that Philippians 4:6 commands me, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”

Since God has seen the end from the beginning, He knows that we can and will get distracted or consumed by the cares of this world. The Lord is full aware of our problems, concerns, situations and circumstances. But just for today, God is asking if He can get one person to declare Psalms 57:7 that says, “My heart is fixed , O God, my heart is fixed. I will sing and give praise.”

So, just for today don’t seek God’s hand and what He can give you, but simply seek His Heart.

“Seek God’s Heart” Prayer: Jesus, I repent of the times that I did not seek your heart and was seeking more of your hand. Oh, Lord, forgive me and my selfish desires. Jesus, I know that you are awesome. I know that you are mighty. On today, I am trusting you to have your way. On today, I put my confidence in you. I choose to turn to you. On today, I seek your heart. My desire is just to be in your presence. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
