Did you know that the word “heart” appears over one thousand times in the Bible? The heart is a person’s center for both physical, emotional, intellectual, and moral activities. If God talked about the heart that many times, then it is vital for you to “Set Your Heart” toward Jesus. Hebrews 3:12-14 says, “Be careful then, dear brothers and sisters. Make sure that your own hearts are not evil and unbelieving, turning you away from the living God. You must warn each other every day, while it is still ‘today,’ so that none of you will be deceived by sin and hardened against God. For if we are faithful to the end, trusting God just as firmly as when we first believed, we will share in all that belongs to Christ.”
So, how do you and I set our hearts towards Jesus?
- Confess any known or unknown sins (1 John 1:9)
- Read and meditate on His word (Psalm 1:2; Romans 10:17; James 1:22)
- Worship (Psalm 100; Colossians 3:16; Hebrews 13:15; Psalm 150)
- Allow the Holy Spirit to transform us by surrendering to His will (Romans 12:2; James 4:8-10; 1 Peter 5:6-10)
- Trust Jesus to lead you (Proverbs 3:5-6; Psalm 37; 2 Corinthians 5:7)
Because Jesus has proven that He is trustworthy, you and I can set our whole hearts towards Him!
