Asaph from the tribe of Levi wrote in Psalm 73:28 saying, “But as for me, how good it is to be near God! I have made the Sovereign LORD my shelter, and I will tell everyone about the wonderful things you do.” This world comes with many distractions, but I want to encourage you today to “Stay Close” to Jesus!
It is vital for you and me to “Stay Close” to Jesus so we can get His help. James 4:7-8 reminds us to, “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.”
As believers, we should “Stay Close” in Jesus’ presence. Psalm 16:11 says, “You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.”
My favorite encouragement when I think of the words “Stay Close” is to worship. To worship is both an attitude and an act! Your attitude is expressed in Psalm 86:11 that says, “Teach me your way, LORD, that I may rely on your faithfulness; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name.” But the act of worship is in Psalm 95:6. It says, “Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the Lord, our Maker!” To “Stay Close” in worship is not merely a Sunday activity; it is a way of life.
When the winds of life blow and they will, the only refuge and rock we have is in Jesus. He is the only One who can keep us safe in His arms so “Stay Close”.
