The Thought For Today

Encouraging You Through God's Word

In order for us to stay the course, it will require something that is beyond you and me. We need strength! We cannot depend on our human strength. Neither can we look to other people to be our strength. Everything and everyone in life is subject to fail us except Jesus. We must look only to Jesus and the Word of God to give us strength. In Psalms 71:16 it says, “I will go in the strength of the Lord God”. Jesus wants us to realize that he is the source of our strength. In order for you and me to stay the course, Psalms 55:22 tells us to, “Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall.” The Lord will empower you with His strength in order to stay the course. Whatever obstacles or circumstances you face in life, trust God in spite of the fact that you do not see the end result. I encourage you to declare Psalms 125:1 that says, “Those who trust in the LORD are like Mount Zion, which cannot be shaken but endures forever.” This scripture did not say those who trust in themselves. Nor did it say those who trust in their jobs. I do not think it said those who trust in their marriage or relationships. No! We must trust only in the true and living God. When you speak and trust the word of God, he will honor it. God will move in His timing. Be encouraged and know that Jesus is interceding on your behalf (Romans 8:34). When you have Jesus fighting for you, you can stay the course.

Search myself and go deeper: Today, I need God’s strength to help me with _______________. I realize that I can not fix this problem on my own. I know drugs can’t fix it. Drinking can’t do it. Even talking about it to family and friends can’t solve the issue. I know my strength comes only from Jesus. I will read and meditate on “strength” scriptures today: Psalm 28:7, Deuteronomy 31:6, Deuteronomy 20:4, Psalm 119:28, 2 Timothy 1:7,1 Corinthians 16:13, Isaiah 40:29, Isaiah 41:10, Philippians 4:13, Joshua 1:9. I am praying that the Lord will honor His word and equip me with His strength.
