When we were in school, you and I learned that in case of a fire or in case you are caught on fire you are to STOP, DROP and ROLL! Well, when you face hardships, challenges or have hard decisions to make, you simply need to STOP, DROP and PRAISE!!!
First, STOP…David’s plea in Psalms 16:8 tells us, “I have set the Lord always before me; Because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved.” It is in our human nature to react when things happen. But I encourage you to be still and wait on the Lord’s direction.
Then, DROP…In 1 Thessalonians 5:17, we are reminded to pray without ceasing. Prayer is powerful and effective. Don’t wait until something bad happens or you are caught between a rock and a hard place. Always be in a posture of prayer.
Finally, PRAISE…Psalms 71:14 says, “I will hope continually, and will yet praise thee more and more.” Because God inhabits the praises of His people (see Psalm 22:3), we realize that there is power and peace when we praise Him.
God has an undefeated track record. He has never failed you or me! Because He is trustworthy and He has you in the palm of His hand, don’t fret but simply, “STOP, DROP and PRAISE”!
“STOP, DROP and PRAISE” prayer: Most Gracious, Heavenly Father, I submit this problem/decision that I am facing to You! Lord, you know my heart and my desires. Jesus, I want your will more than I want my will. Give me the strength to be still (Stop). Let me realize that when I pray (Drop), you hear me and will answer me. I have confidence in you that you will do what your word says. I know that all things will work out for my good. So regardless of the outcome, Jesus, I will praise you now (Praise) before the answer comes. I love you, Lord. I trust that you will lead me and guide me on the right path. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
