The Thought For Today

Encouraging You Through God's Word

From time to time when driving, you and I will allow someone to pull ahead of us in traffic. If you are a parent, you may have given your child permission to stay up late. The word surrender means to yield to the power of another. We easily surrender so many things in life. However, through the many trials and tribulations that come with this ole world, we may feel sometimes like giving up. We may experience times when living as a Christian just doesn’t pay off. We may see other people prospering in their worldly ways. We may even think that God is nowhere to be found. Today, I encourage you to “Surrender It All to Jesus”.

How can I “Surrender It All to Jesus” when life is just not working out for me? The word of God reminds us in Matthew 6:33, “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” I know how you may feel. But you must come to yourself and know that God will fight for you.

How can I “Surrender It All to Jesus” when I do not see God or sense Him moving? James 1:2-4 encourages us with these words, “Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.”

How can I “Surrender It All to Jesus” when I was just overlooked for a promotion on my job? James 4:10 tells us, “Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.” Remember, your favor and promotion come from God so trust Him to elevate you.

Every day and in every situation, we must take God at His word. Our daily life with Jesus must be trusting in him no matter what. We must echo Job 13:15 when Job said, “Though he slay me, yet will I trust Him.” Regardless of what you are facing or will face, Jesus loves you and is there for you so “Surrender It All to Jesus”.

“Surrender It All to Jesus” confession: Lord, I admit that I have not trusted you. I repent of my sins known and unknown. I am so overwhelmed by life and its battles. I am tired and discouraged. Jesus, I need your help! Lord, show me in your word scriptures to help me. I need you to build me up where the enemy has torn me down. I need your word in my heart, in my mind, and in my mouth. Lord, I desire to know what your word says about me. Jesus, if you lead me, I will follow you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
