Your name is not just your name. Your parents put a lot of thought and time into naming you. Maybe your name came from a grandparent, had a specific meaning or had biblical significance. Names in the bible were not taken lightly. Many times, bible names could be used to communicate God’s message. They were also used to establish an affiliation with God. Today, I want to draw your attention, your reverence and your adoration to “That Name” Jesus.
“That Name” Jesus means Savior. Matthew 1:21 confirms this when it says, “He saves His people from their sins.”
“That Name” Jesus means Lord and it commands respect. Philippians 2:9-10 proclaims, “Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”
“That Name” Jesus has power. Colossians 1:15-17 shows us this power when it says, “The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.”
“That Name” Jesus is love. Romans 8:5 says, “But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
“That Name” Jesus is the only one who sacrificed himself for you and me before we were born. Jesus willingly died so that you and I could be reconciled back to the Father (see 2 Corinthians 5:11-21). “That Name” Jesus is worthy of you surrendering your life to Him. Can we thank God today that “That Name” Jesus holds us together?!
“That Name” Praise Report: Most gracious, heavenly Father, we give you glory for the name of Jesus. He is the true and living King! He is so worthy of our praise. On today, we thank you. We are grateful that “That Name” has power. “That Name” is love. “That Name” commands attention. “That Name” will fight on our behalf. “That Name” is the only name by which men can be saved.
